Feeling Hot Hot Hot…

19 Aug

Goodness gracious it has been a scorcher this weekend…

I have spent most of the time just trying to regulate my temperature and making sure my incredibly milky skin is slathered in SPF15.

Me and Mr B did venture into town on Saturday to watch some of the Worthing Birdman that was taking place. It was packed on the seafront and We ended up in a pretty bad spot and late and so we only managed to see the last person jumping…..well they did quite well and were apparently the furthest that day (I guess we were good luck)

We then went to see the new Pixar film Brave which was lovely the story was pretty amazing and it is a nice change in the usual Disney/Pixar storyline and focuses quite heavily on female characters and mother, daughter relationships. It was a lovely change and the animation and music was especially beautiful.

The other great thing about going to the cinema was also the air con as it was still incredibly warm. The only thing for it was to get home have dinner and then eat some ice cream to cool off and get my favourite picture of me from the weekend:

We then had a horrible nights sleep trying to stay cool, keeping out the covers and trying to keep the windows open enough to let air in but not let the cats out.

Sunday was again a scorcher but the day started amazingly with gorgeous Cat cuddles from my cat Bowski

We then had some yummy lunch and watched the Muppet Movie all in all a perfect weekend.

I really must get back to doing some crafting soon, I am looking to try some ceramic painting so if anyone has given this a go I would love any hints and tips.

Whizzy Weekends…

13 Aug

I seem to have had a few weeks of not having enough time to do anything, although when I look back I don’t feel like I have got an awful lot done….sadly it has however meant I have rather neglected the blog, Sorry.

Anyway back to it and here is a little overview of my weekend:

I went to visit Mr B in Lincoln it was such a lovely weekend and I got to hear about Mr B’s Gliding Course which although he told me was amazing fun I don’t think I will be signing up for anytime soon!

Pictures taken from Mr B’s head cam the second is the right way up (aerobatics in a glider not my cup of tea)

Something that was my Cup of Tea however was the most beautiful little Tea Room in Fulbeck, we sat outside in the sunshine drank tea and ate Lincolnshire sausage and mustard sandwiches…lt was bliss!

We both have a bit of a soft spot for TK Maxx and found an amazing one that had all the sale items super cheap, I picked up a dress that wouldn’t usually be my style but for some reason I was drawn to the print……well turns out it was a Clements Ribeiro wrap dress for £11 the tag says it was originally £214 needless to say I snapped it up and I think it will be a lovely autumnal dress.

I really love the gorgeous bold print.

The weekend whizzed by and it was soon time to leave but of course not before one last cup of tea and a giant bourbon just to keep me going for the journey back on the train.

Luckily my journey back was pretty uneventful and I even got back in time for the Olympic Closing Ceremony. I am thinking I am going to try my luck at getting some Paralympics tickets or at least tickets to go to the Olympic Park even just to go up the steel tower have a look around.

I hope everyone had sunny fun weekends too…

Always believe in your soul…

3 Aug

Ok ok I have been truly bitten by the Olympic bug and have on more than one occasion screamed myself hoarse and bawled as some Athlete from a country I haven’t even heard of takes to the podium…….and as for when Team GB get a medal well I am in floods!

All of this Olympics malarkey is of course another great excuse for wearing some metallics so I have put together a few of my favourite pieces (in Gold of course)

This yummy dress is from Asos for £65 but guaranteed to make you look like a winner on a big night out.

Not into dresses how about these bad boys from H&M for £24.99

I am also loving this Clutch from Warehouse which I think is a bargain at £22

And last but not least this amazing nail polish by Opi which contains real 18k gold flakes it is to be released soon and although I have heard rumours of a £23 price tag I think I may have to treat myself to this gorgeous looking stuff

I hope everyone is enjoying the games as much as me, I am very excited that the athletics has just started and can’t wait to scream some more at the TV and hopefully weep with joy for a few more members of Team GB!

You and me and G and T…

31 Jul

I had the pleasure of going on a little lunch excursion with some of my colleagues today, sadly because one of the lovely ladies was leaving this did however involve some amazing Thai food and the discovery of a little pub in Brighton called The Office that serves over 30 types of Gin!!!!

Now I have to admit I haven’t always been a Gin fan and would have been more likely to be seen with a bottle of beer!

But now I love nothing more than a G n’ T with lots of ice and a slice of lime. My favourite has always been Bombay Sapphire and The beautiful bottle has always made it feel a little bit special.

I am however already planning a trip back to The Office with Mr B to try out some of their amazing selection including this gorgeous offering and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the gorgeous art work on the bottle ever seen seeing it:

I am not sure we will manage all 30 in one in visit but what a great excuse for another trip!

Going for Gold…

24 Jul

It’s not that I am not excited about the Olympics just more that so far the whole thing has rather passed me by and the only things I have been reading have been about security issues and other horror stories.

Well that was until I saw the advert on Channel 4 for the Paralympic Games I have a feeling I am going to be well and truly hooked.

If you haven’t seen their amazing advert called Superhuman I recommend taking a look this got me more riled up and ready than any Boris Johnson speech or stupid mascot.

It shows athletes with grit and determination and I for one cannot wait to watch Team GB grabbing all the gold at the Paralympics.

I will be waving the flag and screaming with all my heart and cannot wait till it starts on 29.08.12

Until then wish me luck for Friday as I am attempting my own Olympic sized feat of getting across London to get to Norwich at the weekend!

Does anybody have Paralympic or Olympic Tickets? What are you off to see? Or if you are watching it at home what is your favourite event?

Fan Stitchin’

18 Jul

I have always loved the quaint Home Sweet Home cross stitch you see in people’s homes and I am in love with a beautiful Sampler that Mr B’s Mum has in her house, but I have never really tried cross stitch for myself at least not since first school.

Doolallytat H took it up a few months back and has been really enjoying it and after looking at one of her cross stitch magazines (we are both so rock and roll) I decided I would give it a go.
And well dear reader I MAY BE HOOKED!

I couldn’t believe how calming it was I just sat in a big comfy chair with a cup of tea listening to some great music and did a bit of lettering:

I know it is not exactly great or exciting but it wasn’t bad for a first attempt. I then decided to look online for some inspiration and I was not disappointed.

Firstly this amazing sampler style pattern from the amazingly named Granniepanties

How amazingly cool is that!? And then just when I though cross stitch couldn’t get cooler, I found this on Flickr by Doaflip

Now any of you Spaced fans will know this is one of the amazingly funny quotes from the show and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to give one a go for myself.

I decided to go for a simpler design as it was only really my second attempt at a pattern and then I just had to decided out of all the quotes that I love from the show which one I would immortalise in thread……
And here it is in all it’s Spaced Geeky Glory:

This is one of my favourite quotes from the show not least because Mr B is always saying it to me when I am waffling.

I think I may do an Anchor Man one next think of the quotable cross stitch possibilities!
