Spooky Thrills & Crafty Chills

26 Oct

I love England with it’s insanely unpredictable weather and ability to show you the most polite and kind people in the world right along side the more shall we say yobbish! (Usually all crammed into one train carriage wishing they were anywhere but where they are)

BUT one thing England is only just starting to catch up with is the pure joy and amazing holiday that is HALLOWEEN……..

I know in Ye Olden days we ‘loved’ a witch as much as the next place but we never really picked up on this celebration of all things ghastly and ghoulish until recently.

Now it seems you cannot move for rubber snakes and ghost costumes in every shop you see.
Although I wish that maybe people would stick to more of a Halloween theme and less of a wear very little and look a little like a stripper style of costume ( Its October people even with the recent weather, It’s too damn cold!)

Here are a few offerings from Leg Avenue a Spooky Witch, A Scary Bear and a Errrrr Bee????

Here at Doolallytat towers we are polishing the cauldron and practising our cackles. Not to mention getting in some last minute crafting:

So lets get our Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble On People.
Mwahahahah ah ah ah ah ah ahahahahahaha!!!!! Cough Cough…….Oh excuse me…….

XOXO

Things We Love Thursday….

6 Oct

This Thursday I want to speak Nerdy to you…….

I am a self confessed massive GEEK and super proud of this fact. The current trend for empty framed glasses and Geek Chic is a little annoying to all those real Geeky Chicks out there who have been rocking this look for years and not to look cool but more so they can see where they are going!

I do however love that the trends bring some totally awesome products that you cannot live without such as this:

The above is a chopping board available at Firebox at £14.99 Funky and Functional and a great way to get that Gamer in your life off the sofa and into the kitchen.

I also just wanted to mention the sad passing of Steve Jobs such an amazing man and a true hero to our generation. He has been instrumental in changing so many of the products we all use everyday.

Here is what another hero of mine John Lasseter of Pixar had to say about Jobs:

Steve Jobs was an extraordinary visionary, our very dear friend and the guiding light of the Pixar family,” said Lasseter, who also directed A Bug’s Life and both Carsmovies.

“He saw the potential of what Pixar could be before the rest of us, and beyond what anyone ever imagined.

“Steve took a chance on us and believed in our crazy dream of making computer animated films; the one thing he always said was to simply ‘make it great.'”

Lasseter added: “He is why Pixar turned out the way we did and his strength, integrity and love of life has made us all better people.

“He will forever be a part of Pixar’s DNA. Our hearts go out to his wife Laurene and their children during this incredibly difficult time.”

XOXO

Smack on the Wrist….

1 Oct

Bad bad blogger …….

I am so sorry for the huge gap in posts. Craft fairs seem few and far between at the moment and although I know we should be gearing up for Autumn and Christmas crafts (I know I mentioned the C word but you have to craft early for these things) The unseasonabley hot weather and a suprisingly full Calender has meant I have rather let the blog slip.

Firstly here is a picture of me (Looking quite smug for some reason, I can assure you it was a very cold day in september and I am just trying not to shiver for the picture) wearing the spitfire hat I mentioned a few blogs ago. It isn’t the greatest picture of the hat but I am hoping to get a better one soon when I get other peoples photos.

In other news Doolallytats ‘H’ has taken up Cross Stitch so stay tuned for some Doolallytat Cross Stitch Creations coming soon. If anyone knows of any cool Cross Stitch type sites do let us know in the comments.

Both of us Doolally Birds are off to do a days Jewellery making course in November too which we can’t wait for. The tutor is Jewellery designer Clara Vichi who makes some amazing contemporary bits and pieces check her out here http://www.dazzle-exhibitions.com/Designers/ClaraVichi.aspx

Bit of a wait till the class in November but lots of time to get some inspiration.

I hope you are keeping cool in this weather…….Time for another Ice Lolly I think!

XOXO
