Family Rules!

4 Jul

On my ever constant search for cool decorating ideas, I came across the lovely idea of family rules. These are basically a list be it silly or sensible of rules for your family to live by. Now my household is a crazy one so I thought what better than creating our own set of family rules.

Take a look at this little lot for inspiration (or just go and buy….all for sale on wonderful Etsy)

Super Easy DIY Doily Bunting

30 May

I’ve gone bunting mad at the moment and thought I would show you a super easy DIY bunting that takes literally 10 minutes to make maybe a little longer depending on what glue you use.

What you will need:

– Paper Doilies
– String I used Red and White Twine
– PVA Glue

First take you Doily

Then fold in half making a crease

Then taking your PVA Glue run a line of glue along the crease

Then lay your string along the glue line

Fold the doily in half pressing along the glued crease continue until you have the length of bunting you need then leave to dry i dried mine by hanging on the trees in the garden as the weather is so nice at the moment….and Voila Doily bunting perfect as a quick decoration for all sorts of occasions.

Craft Fair Craziness…

10 May

Sorry about the lack of posts this week.

We have been busy beavering away like a pair of………Well Beavers! Just making sure we are all ready for our next appearance at Barties Boutique on Saturday 12th May, 10.00am till 16.00pm

And I think that we are now finally ready, Our sparkles are sparkling and our Flower brooches are blooming and the special Jubilee crafts are fit for a queen and that is not even mentioning the other Doolallytat bits and bobs we have on offer.

It will be the first time for a few of our crafts including the what’s your poison necklaces:

So it will be interesting to see how they go down with the Crafty crowds.

I have also been busy making lots of different rings so I am hoping my new Polka Dot button rings will be driving the crowds dotty (sorry! bad pun)

Now all we need is the rain to hold off so that we get a good crowd but at least it is indoors and the cafe is amazing! So maybe the Hardcore craft crowd will brave the rain (fingers crossed)

Hopefully if you are local we might see you there.

Sunday Showers and Healing Powers…

6 May

I have certainly had what can only be described as a very lazy day. Doolallytat’s H popped over with the hubby to pick up the little’un who had been staying over while they went to a wedding reception.

Unfortunately due to the nasty Gin Devil H was not feeling her usual hot and sprightly self today so we decided the only cure was a dose of Disney and many many cans of a well known fizzy drink!

This did however mean we got to have a good gossip and get a bit of a plan of action for next weekends craft fair which has come around so quickly. It will be the 2nd time we have been at Barties Boutique the last time was considerably sunnier, so we are hoping the inevitable rain does not dampen the general publics hunger and spirit for crafts!

I also started to plan my wonderful stamp hat and as usual got completely side tracked and started making a felt crown instead:

I was quite pleased as a first attempt. It was all cut by hand with no pattern so I think if I can get a pattern together it could look pretty good. Then all I need is to get the trusty sewing machine out and voila instant jubilee fabness.

I am hoping to make the most of the bank holiday tomorrow and at least get out and about for a few hours (weather permitting of course) and then in the afternoon hopefully finally sort out my outfit for the next wedding at the end of the month……….Now what frock will go best with my wellie boots?!?!

Super Saturday Craftathon…

5 May

Well after getting well and truly drizzled on today in Arundel I am happy to be back inside in the warm and in the mood for some crafting.

Arundel wasn’t a complete washout as I managed to get some of my favourite Tea Pigs Tea bags, so with a yummy Oolong in hand I am getting ready to design my Jubilee Parade hat.

As some of you may know Mr B is in the RAF and is going to be involved in the Queens Diamond Jubilee Parade so it is the perfect excuse to make a special hat for the occasion and my inspiration…….

I have bought a gorgeous blue hat base on eBay and I am now searching for the perfect fabric to make the stamp, I am thinking maybe felt or a type of shiny fake leather…….I think I need to experiment with some fabrics and designs.

I will let you know the outcome of how I get on……..now where did I put my glue gun!?!?
