They Call Me Mellow Yellow…

11 Jun

Yuck Yuck and Yuck again!

The weather has really decided to show us what for over the last few weeks. Great for the gardens and Ducks but not so great for a girl who would like to be getting a bit of a tan and wearing some of her Summer wardrobe (I love my jeans but my knees are yearning for some sunshine)

I have however come up with a solution to save us all from this gloomy, grey and very wet weather, and that solution is……………YELLOW!

In the past I have never really gravitated towards Yellow but lately I seem to be buying more yellow clothes and finding all sorts of sunshine colour trinkets that are catching my attention.

Here are a few of my favourite finds:

I love all the Pantone products and am lucky enough to own this mug which is available from John Lewis here.

This gorgeous dress is from Topshop as part of their Dress Up Collection.

This beautiful print is available from GusAndLula on Etsy.

And what is a world without sunshine and beautiful shoes?!? Now we can have both thanks to Zara

I hope that has put a smile on your face and a little sunshine in your heart at least until we can get some of the real thing……

Things We Love Thursday…

15 Mar

This week has utterly flown by and we even had some sunshine……..Oh and masses of Sea Mist!

But through the fog we have still had time to fall in love with lots of beautiful things so here we are to share:

1. Buttons Buttons and More Buttons

For some reason Buttons make me very happy there is something about them all shiny and colourful. I remember thinking that they were really something special when I was little and I would love looking through my Grandmas button box as if it was a sort of treasure chest.

I now have my very own Button jar and just bought these beauties to add to the collection:

They are such yummy pastel colours and some of these pretty little gems will be made into rings and hair clips for the Doolallytat collection.

2. Freestlin’ Crochet

Not actual crochet you see but self taught and looking good but not quite Crochet, Crochet.

There has been talk of Crochet lessons although I am liking no actual I am LOVING the gusto of just giving it a good old go!

3. Holidays!!!!!

Yes I am lucky enough to be heading off to my favorite hotel in London at the weekend, A gig on Monday and then off to sunny sunny Florida after that. I have so far packed my bag, unpacked it and packed it again at least 7 times and I am guessing this will happen a few more times before take off.

Well on that note I guess I better go and check my bag again!

Crafty Days and Crafty Ways…

10 Mar

Wowzers what a day!

We had such a fun day at Barties Boutique it is such a wonderful space and we were really rather impressed in how well it was all run and arranged.

We met some really lovey people and have lots of business cards of our fellow crafter’s so we can check out their websites and hopefully make some new crafty friends.

Doolallytats H is even looking into Crochet so Watch This Space!

I did manage to take some pictures of the stall before the Boutique opened so you can see what our Doolallytat Explosion of Craft looks like:

It was a great day with a steady stream people looking around and we are definitely looking forward to being involved in a lot more of the Barties Boutique days in the future.

I also spoke to a lovely lady about maybe designing a bespoke Fascinator for her wedding that is very exciting and also to another lovely lady about posting some Vintage hair tutorials as it seems every day I meet more and more people who want some 50’s Bangs or Victory Rolls (I think this will be a big Diamond Jubilee hairstyle) So keep an eye out for those in the near future.

Also wanted to mention the wonderful Cafe called the Lime Cafe in the venue that was amazing we had lots of tea and a gorgeous salad for lunch that I would suggest to anybody if they are local to pop in and give it a try.

Phew well time for a sit down and some Ice Cream now to celebrate a great day……….Cheers!

All The Fun Of The Craft Fair…

7 Mar

Fate and Lemon drizzle cake pointed me into the direction of The Lime Cafe in Worthing last Saturday. After stopping off for a cuppa and the aforementioned cake I noticed they hold regular Craft Fairs called The Big Fab Barties Boutique……

So I got on the case and managed to book one of the last few spaces left for Saturday 10th March.

The building is an old church called St Pauls in Worthing and it is such a wonderful space.

We are so excited and have already started to get all of our crafty bits and pieces together including some new bits and bobs that we haven’t taken to previous fairs.

So if you are around and looking for some gorgeous handmade gifts maybe for mothers day or just some new shiny trinkets for yourself do pop along and say hello!

The Big Fab Barties Boutique, The Lime Cafe, St Pauls,Chapel Road, Worthing from 10.00am to 16.00pm (Longer Opening Hours)

Spring Was In The Air…

4 Mar

I have been meaning to make a yarn wreath for such a long time and this week with the first signs of spring in the air I thought I would take inspiration and make a spring yarn wreath (Even though as I write today it is pouring with rain!)

I took a trip to my local Guild Care a local charity shop which sells wool and they had the perfect ball with brilliant pastel spring colours.

I already had a polystyrene wreath and with that, the wrapping of the wreath began. This took quite a long time so it is perfect for doing in the evening in front of the TV, after an hour of wrapping my wreath it was fully covered. Then what to decorate it with?

I had some lovely pastel felt so got out my trusted Sizzix Big Shot die cutter and cut out some butterflies. Then had a brain wave, what about adding some mini felt bunting! and with that my spring wreath was finished.

I really had a lot of fun making this wreath and have tons of ideas for other designs so hopefully you will see some more examples very soon.

Fun On The Farm…

3 Mar

We had a wonderful day out on Friday at The Aldingbourne Trust

It is a beautiful place where you can go on a woodland walk, have coffee and cake and of course see some wonderful Piggies, Ducks and other animals.

”The Aldingbourne Country Centre embodies every aspect of what we work towards, Adults with learning disabilities work as key members of our sustainable social enterprise teams; helping to create unique products, serving customers and maintaining the fantastic countryside and environment experiences for our visitors to enjoy”

It is completely free to go and take a look around and you pay £1 to get up close to some truly amazing creatures.

Please check out their website and go and take a visit when you can.

Here are some pictures from our day:

There were also lots more chickens, Donkeys and Bunnies and Guinea Pigs to Cuddle.

It was a lovely day enjoyed by all (Apart from some small issues with a 2 year old and a rather large Turkey)

And they were even selling some amazing handmade crafts in the gift shop.

Spring Rings and Sunnier Thing…

1 Mar

Oh what a day I have had! I did however get to unwind doing one of my favourite things…………CRAFTING.

If you have read the blog before you may have seen the Doolallytat wire wrap rings…..Well I have been playing about with these and added some of my favourite things BUTTONS:

The rule of 3 seems to be best with these little beauties and the different colours mean they can be swapped and matched to whatever outfit you are wearing.

It is of course another chance for me to show off a bit more of the new Doolallytat packaging which I am so happy with.

We are off on a day trip to a farm tomorrow so hopefully we will have lots of sunny pictures of Perfect Piggies and Delightful Ducks!

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine today long may it last.
